Monterey Backpack

This backpack is beautiful and so functional!

I’m so pleased that I ordered this backpack. It’s the perfect size. Beautifully made and holds all my junk. It’s very comfortable to carry. I wouldn’t change a thing!

This is my first purchase from this company, and it won't be my last. I have been looking for a backpack that would fit a laptop for on the plane, but would still look cute and compact enough to carry around town, when I don't have my laptop. Previously I have ordered other backpacks from other companies, but any nice leather backpack that could also fit my laptop would look ridiculously large on my petite body. So I messaged this company via Facebook, and they responded very quickly to my concerns and recommended getting a custom lid in order fit my 13" laptop. The cost of the customization is very reasonable considering how much more useful this backpack will be. I am thrilled as to how quickly the backpack came after ordering (10 days) and the quality of the backpack is superb! The custom lid fits my laptop perfectly and I can also fit a 32 oz hydroflask in the backpack which is a big plus. Also, the logo stamped on this backpack is very subtle and not obnoxious like other luxury brands, since it's located under the flap, which is another big plus. I can't wait to use this backpack for years to come!

I love this backpack beyond all reason. It’s beautiful, it smells wonderful, is is conveniently organized with a cell-phone pocket, a wide pocket, and a key clip, and it carries a lot more than one would expect. I have a planner, which I carry everywhere, that is quite heavy. I could not carry it comfortably in a tote, but a backpack can handle the extra weight because of how it distributes weight evenly between the back and the shoulders. This backpack thus allows me to look elegant and also to carry the one item that I really depend on. There’s room for a wallet, a pencil case, and a water bottle as well — all that can be carried in comfort.

I’ve been looking to replace my mini (fabric) backpack for years with a higher quality leather one. I’ve bought bags from Saddleback Leather, Coach, Everlane, Madewell and other similar stores but SBL bags are too heavy for daily carry and I wasn’t impressed with the leather quality of the other brands I tried. I always ended up returning my order within the first week. Enter Urban Southern. This bag has almost identical dimensions as the backpack I’ve had for years so it’s a perfect substitute in size. The leather is supple and has a lived in feel; it’s also lightweight and very professional looking. I can take this bag to work, to business meetings, out with friends, etc. I’m a minimalist and only wear black so I bought it in black leather. I have zero complaints or regrets - wouldn’t change a thing. I can tell it will last forever and will only get better with age. I’ve also noticed that this backpack really elevates whatever outfit I’m wearing that day and makes me look more put together.
If you’ve tried other leather bags and you found them too stiff, heavy, expensive, low quality or masculine - give this backpack a try. You won’t regret it.
